I'm a graduate student at the University of Washington in Seattle, working on my masters in Library and Information Science. I'll be graduating in June 2010 and hope to work as a public librarian soon thereafter.

So far, I've lived in Sarnia, Ontario (Canada); Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Boston/Newton/Natick, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; Chicago, Illinois; and Seattle, Washington. I've traveled to a variety of places in Scotland, England, and Wales; the Netherlands; San Francisco and Chico, California; Copenhagen, Denmark; Paris, France; and a variety of other places I can't think of right now.

I've been a student of political science and communications, yoga, Irish step dance, French horn, ballet (although poorly), capoeira (likewise), folk fiddle (there is a theme here), Latin, and lots of other stuff. I read a lot of folklore and theory and analysis related to it, fantasy and science fiction, and food blogs. My new craft is quilting. My old craft is knitting. My older craft is pottery and polymer clay. I would like to play the fiddle better, and to learn to play the harp. I would also like to be more comfortable singing in public.

I am constructed entirely of elbows and collarbones. My respiratory system was shoddily crafted. My knees and ankles were severely displeased with five years of Irish dance and still fuss at me.

I have started canning my own jams and fruits and making my own pasta. I cook well, but not as frequently as I would like, as grad school consumes large quantities of my time.

I play WoW (Proudmoore) and occasional other video games. Katamari brings great joy to my soul. I really like Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica and have *such* a girlcrush on Starbuck. Doctor Who is pretty cool too. I read a fair number of graphic novels; Sandman, Astonishing X-Men, and Local are some of my favorites.
